Our Commitment to building opportunities for passionate Nature Lovers to connect

Bushman Tours is, at its core, an open community dedicated to bringing the world closer together by fostering meaningful and personal shared experiences among people from all parts of the world. Our Tribe is focused on conservation and the environment, first and foremost. It is our amazing community of Bushmen and women who share these values with people from all walks of life.

The Bushman Tours community is committed to building a world where people from every background feel welcome and respected in local regions, no matter how far they have traveled from home. This commitment rests on our three core missions that apply both to Bushman Tours’s Bushmen and women and our Visitors (customers and clients): Explore Local, People Connecting, Conservation Support. Our shared commitment to these missions enables every person of our community to feel welcome on the Bushman Tours Platform no matter who they are, where they come from, how they worship, or whom they love. Bushman Tours recognizes that some jurisdictions permit, or require, distinctions among individuals based on factors such as national origin, gender, marital status or sexual orientation, and it does not require users to violate local laws or take actions that may subject them to legal liability.

While we do not believe that one company can mandate harmony between the natural world and people, we do believe that the Bushman Tours community can promote a sense of need and loyalty to the environment and natural world. We encourage all members, Visitors and parties involved with Bushman Tours to hold this at the core of every action they take. We are all committed to doing everything we can to help eliminate all forms of unlawful bias, discrimination, and intolerance from our platform as well as ridding any debate or argument to the negitive reaction to climate or environmental change. We want to promote a culture within the Bushman Tours community—Bushmen & women, Visitors and people just considering whether to use our platform—that goes above and beyond mere compliance. To that end, all of us, Bushman Tours employees, Bushmen and women and Visitors alike, agree to read and act in accordance with the following policy to strengthen our community and realize our mission of ensuring that everyone can coordinate and work together to build a healthier, more beautiful world than what we currently live.

  • Explore Local – We believe that the idea of tours, Experience or Adventures is an activity that can bring people from all walks of life together to experience the beautiful invitation that is nature. The activities associated with outdoor recreation, at Bushman Tours, revolves around an objective to communicate, collaborate and build connections on an international scale to help enhance the efforts and support of protecting our environment. Doing this locally, at its absolute best, can regenerate wealth for families and communities.
  • People Connecting – Although most negative effects on the environment and to our climate have been the result of mass manmade innovations, we believe at Bushman Tours that the same man has the power to reverse and protect our fragile home. When picking our Bushmen and women, we painstakingly review each application in detail and investigate this person’s values to ensure they will continue to spread the message to our Visitors and members. Bushman Tours choose to not associate with jurisdictions that actively contribute to the negative effects of climate change and openly decline any form of partnership or contract with people not holding the same values as us toward the natural world.
  • Conservation Support – Everything we do, we do for conservation. The Experiences and Adventures  are there to showcase its importance. The people are there to communicate it with others. Bushman Tours is here to share it over and over until as many people are moved by it as possible. We believe that physical efforts towards conservation is the single most important act a person can do and therefore encourage it in the work and Experiences we provide.

Specific Guidance for Bushmen & women in New Zealand.

As a general matter, we will familiarize ourselves with all applicable federal, state, and local laws that apply to Tours and Adventures and places of public or private land or accommodation. Bushmen and women should contact Bushman Tours customer service if they have any questions about their obligations to comply with this Bushman Tours Nondiscrimination Policy. Bushman Tours will release further discrimination policy guidance for jurisdictions outside the New Zealand in the near future. Guided by these principles, our New Zealand Bushman community will follow these rules when considering potential Visitors and Experiences:

Race, Color, Ethnicity, National Origin, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, or Marital Status

  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may not:
    • Decline a Visitor based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.
    • Impose any different terms or conditions based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.
    • Post any listing or make any statement that discourages or indicates a preference for or against any Visitor on account of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.

Gender

  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may not:
    • Decline to tour a Visitor based on gender unless the Bushman shares living spaces (for example, bathroom, kitchen, or common areas) with the Visitor.
    • Impose any different terms or conditions based on gender unless the Bushman shares living spaces with the Visitor.
    • Post any listing or make any statement that discourages or indicates a preference for or against any Visitor on account of gender, unless the Bushman shares living spaces with the Visitor.
  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may:
    • Make a unit available to Visitors of the Bushman’s gender and not the other, where the Bushman shares living spaces with the Visitor.

Disability

  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may not:
    • Decline a Visitor based on any actual or perceived disability unless it is deemed a serious factor in the safe conduct of the Tour.
    • Impose any different terms or conditions based on the fact that the Visitor has a disability (other than for legitimate safety reasons which must be communicated and signed off with Bushman Tours).
    • Substitute their own judgment about whether a Tour meets the needs of a Visitor with a disability for that of the prospective Visitor.
    • Enquire about the existence or severity of a Visitor’s disability, or the means used to accommodate any disability. If, however, a potential Visitor raises his or her disability, a Bushman may, and should, discuss with the potential Visitor whether the Tour or Experience meets the potential Visitor’s needs and communicate this concern directly and immediately with Bushman Tours.
    • Prohibit or limit the use of mobility devices.
    • Charge more in fees or other fees associated with the tour or Experience for Visitors with disabilities.
    • Post any listing or make any statement that discourages or indicates a preference for or against any Visitor on account of the fact that the Visitor has a disability.
    • Refuse to communicate with Visitors through accessible means that are available, including relay operators (for people with hearing impairments) and e-mail (for people with vision impairments using screen readers).
    • Refuse to provide reasonable accommodations, including flexibility when Visitors with disabilities request modest changes in your Tour or Adventure rules, such as bringing an assistance animal that is necessary because of the disability. When a Visitor requests such accommodation, the Bushman and the Visitor should engage in a dialogue to explore mutually agreeable ways to ensure the tour or Experience meets the Visitor’s needs and include Bushman Tours in this discussion who in their own right, have full obligation to confirm the final decision of this engagement.
  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may:
    • Provide factually accurate information about the Tour or Adventure’s accessibility features (or lack of them), allowing for Visitors with disabilities to assess for themselves whether the unit is appropriate to their individual needs. Bushman Tours (where applicable) will support the listing or tour and provide feedback to support the Bushman’s promotion of that listing or tour.

Personal Preferences

  • Bushman Tours Bushmen and women may:
    • Except as noted above, Bushman Tours Bushmen or women may decline to lead a tour based on factors that are not prohibited by law. For example, except where prohibited by law, Bushman Tours Bushmen or women may decline to lead Visitors with pets, or to Visitors who smoke or have a history of alcohol abuse.
    • Require Visitors to respect restrictions on foods consumed in the listing (e.g., a Bushman who maintains a Kosher or vegetarian kitchen may require Visitors to respect those restrictions).
    • Nothing in this policy prevents a Bushman from turning down a Visitor on the basis of a characteristic that is not protected under the civil rights laws or closely associated with a protected class. For example, a Bushman may turn down a Visitor who wants to smoke or bring extra, unregistered Visitors on a tour without consent by Bushman Tours and the Bushman.

When Visitors are turned down. Bushmen and women should keep in mind that no one likes to be turned down from something they have genuinely requested as a service. While a Bushman may have, and articulate, lawful and legitimate reasons for turning down a potential Visitor and booking, it may cause that member of our community to feel unwelcome or excluded. Bushmen and women should make every effort to be welcoming to Visitors of all backgrounds. Bushmen and women who demonstrate a pattern of rejecting Visitors from a protected class (even while articulating legitimate reasons), undermine the strength of our community by making potential Visitors feel unwelcome, and Bushman Tours may suspend the Bushman’s contract or profile with us who have demonstrated such a pattern from the Bushman Tours platform.

Specific Guidance for Bushmans Outside of New Zealand

Outside of New Zealand, some countries or communities may allow or even require people to make Tour or Adventure distinctions based on, for example, marital status, national origin, gender or sexual orientation, in violation of our general nondiscrimination philosophy. In these cases, we do not require Bushmen or women to violate local laws, nor to accept Visitors that could expose the Bushman to a real and demonstrable risk of arrest, or physical harm to their persons or property. Bushmen or women who live in such areas should set out any such restriction on their ability to lead particular Visitors in their listing, so that prospective Visitors are aware of the issue and Bushman Tours can confirm the necessity for such an action. In communicating any such restrictions, we expect Bushmen and women to use clear, factual, non-derogatory terms. Slurs and insults have no place on our platform or in our community and they will be strictly dealt with in the most legally aggressive forms.

What happens when a Bushman does not comply with our policies in this area?

If a particular listing contains language contrary to this nondiscrimination policy, the Bushman will be asked to remove the language and affirm his or her understanding and intent to comply with this policy and its underlying principles as well as their Supplier Agreement with us. A Director or Senior Member of Bushman Tours will make a direct phone call, email or in person visit to discuss this incident and judge whether this person complies and follows the values and nondiscrimination policy we adhere to. Bushman Tours may also, in its discretion, take steps up to and including suspending the Bushman from the Bushman Tours platform.

If the Bushman improperly rejects Visitors on the basis of protected class, or uses language demonstrating that his or her actions were motivated by factors prohibited by this policy, Bushman Tours will take steps to enforce this policy, up to and including suspending the Bushman from the platform.

As the Bushman Tours community grows, we will continue to ensure that Bushman Tours’ policies and practices align with our most important goal: To ensure that Visitors and Bushmen feel welcome and respected in all of their interactions using the Bushman Tours platform. The public, our community, the environment and we ourselves, expect no less than this.
